Lover's Bowl

Inspired by Valentine's Day, this month's smoothie recipe is the perfect healthy treat for you or those you love. Instead of gifting a box of sugar-packed chocolate truffles or candy, indulge in this delicious and nutritious treat.

What you will need:

(Serves 1-2)

1.5 frozen bananas

15 whole frozen strawberries

1 handful of frozen rasberries

4 slices of fresh grapefruit

1/3 of a fresh beet

3/4 cup of sweetened vanilla almond milk

1 tsp. of maca powder

1 tbsp. of chia seeds

1 tbsp. of hemp seeds

1 tbsp. of coconut sugar

After blending thoroughly in a blender, enjoy as a simple on-the-go smoothie or as a smoothie bowl. Top it with fresh strawberries, dried gogi berries, white dragon fruit, cocoa nibs, chia seeds, chocolate flavored granola (my personal favorite is Nature Path's Love Crunch in the flavor Dark Chocolate and Red Berries), etc.

Another amazing way to serve this recipe is with vanilla chia pudding.

Chia pudding is easy to make; you will simply need to prepare it in advance.

What you will need:

1/2 cup of chia seeds

2 cups of sweetened vanilla almond milk

2 tsps. of agave

Stir together in a jar or bowl until evenly distributed, cover, and let it sit in the refrigerator for 3 hours or overnight. After the mixture has thickened into a pudding consistency, scoop into a cup, layer with the Lover's smoothie, and top with fresh fruit.

I hope you enjoy this special treat (with someone you love), and that you have a happy, healthy lover's day!
